NeuroKinetic Therapy – NKT
NeuroKinetic Therapy™ is a sophisticated form of movement therapy that goes beyond the treatment of symptoms and instead focuses on the root causes of pain and dysfunction. It can be used as both an assessment tool and rehabilitative technique for chronic pain and injury. It is very effective for treatment of pain in the low back, neck, shoulders, knees, hips, and feet; NKT is also used for improving walking/running gait, correcting poor posture, preventing injury, and enhancing athletic performance. For many, treatment results in nearly instantaneous relief from pain and discomfort.
How does NKT work?
As an assessment, I perform manual muscle testing in order to assess specific compensation patterns. As a treatment, I use the results taken from the manual therapy assessment and perform targeted massage and/or stretching to release facilitated muscles, and prescribe corrective exercises to strengthen inhibited muscles. The result is quick, long lasting relief from pain, stiffness and dysfunction, and overall improved movement quality and performance.
NKT can be a powerful tool to help heal from an injury, reduce your risk of pain and injury, break from the injury cycle, and get you moving and feeling better. NKT is a quick, cost effective treatment for both rehabilitation and prevention of injuries.
Will Neuro Kinetic Therapy be helpful for you? Every case is different. NKT does not address every possible problem, but those that it does, it addresses far more comprehensively than any other modality I’ve discovered. The only true way to understand this work is to experience it.
Functional Movement Screen – FMS
The Functional Movement Screen is a reliable test of fundamental movement patterns.
The FMS system is a ranking and grading system that assesses seven movement patterns which are key to normal function. These movement patterns are the foundation of essential daily physical activities. By screening these movement patterns, the FMS readily identifies functional limitations and asymmetries. These are issues that can reduce the effects of training, physical conditioning; distort body awareness; and increase overall injury risk.
The FMS generates a Baseline Score which is used to target movement dysfunction; identify exercises which will be most effective to restore proper movement; and track progress.
The FMS is designed to reveal:
deficiencies in stability and mobility
Troublesome compensation patterns
Imbalances in core, trunk, and limb function
The FMS can be applied at any fitness level, simplifying corrective strategies for a wide array of movement issues. The FMS quickly identifies dysfunctional movement patterns so that they can be addressed before they lead to pain and injury. It can also indicate an individual’s readiness to perform an exercise program so that realistic goals can be set and achieved.
